My recollection is that Gene Creasy was the first WGH PD using the Color Channel 131 format. It was based on what KFWB Channel 98 (980 on the AM dial) was doing in Southern California. It was a way to get the TV generation to remember where a station was on a dial, and think of radio as being colorful.
