I'm glad to hear Don Kidwell, that too-familiar example of corporate mindset, was being mocked in a subtle but clever way. As I remember, Keith James and Gene Loving had shared a small house in the Grandview Beach area of Hampton throughout 1963 and into early '64. Keith went north to CHED in Canada and his last shift was a Tuesday (February 25, 1964). Lamb's return was on Monday, March 9, 1964. During that period, the Keith James (and later Dick Lamb) shows were punctuated by :55 newscasts featuring Kentucky native Wayne Combs...who was replaced in 1967 by the aforementioned Carlton Shrieves, who had grown up in Princess Anne County before going to college in the Richmoind area.
